Revelstoke’s latest lending library

The box was made possible with the help of Neighbourhood Small Grants

A neighbourhood small grant recently helped a local resident get two lending library boxes set up in Columbia Park and at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre.

Lending libraries are small boxes set up at the edges of community members’ property that are filled with books. The idea is that other community members in the neighbourhood can pick a book and leave one of their own for someone else. Revelstoke has several lending libraries spread throughout the community, but now the community is getting two more.

Ken Talbot and the Revelstoke Visual Arts Community Wood Shop helped to create the boxes. Initially, the plan was to create just one lending library for the corner of Columbia Park Dr. and Laforme Blvd., but with Talbot’s help and the funding from the grant, a second library box was made.

The Columbia Park box is already up and stocked — ready for the community. The second box will be put up at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre at a later date.
